The Copper Anvil Awards return Thursday, October 23, 2025, for a night dedicated to celebrating the best of Arizona’s public relations and communications community.

Hosted by PRSA Phoenix — the largest organization serving public relations professionals in the Valley — the event brings together communicators from every corner of the industry. PRSA Phoenix provides members with resources, advocacy, and programming to advance their careers, and for more than 50 years, the Copper Anvils have stood as the chapter’s signature event honoring excellence in public relations.

Each year, the awards recognize the outstanding strategy, creativity, and impact behind the campaigns that inform, inspire, and drive change across our state. Whether you’re attending as a finalist, a supporter, or a proud member of Arizona’s PR community — this is the night to come together and celebrate.

The evening includes a cocktail hour, dinner, and awards ceremony, along with a raffle and silent auction benefiting PRSA Phoenix programming and professional development initiatives.

Masters SIG Preparty

If you have 15 or more years of experience in public relations, don’t miss the Masters Special Interest Group (SIG) Preparty happening before the Copper Anvils!

Come early, catch up, and get reacquainted with other seasoned professionals. This relaxed mixer is the perfect opportunity to network and connect before heading to the main event.

At the end of the preparty, the group will walk over together to the Copper Anvil Awards Ceremony at Peoria Sports Complex, where a reserved table will be waiting for Masters attendees.

What’s on the Menu

Dinner Menu:

• Herb & Parmesan Crusted Chicken Breast — Tender chicken breast encrusted with fresh herbs and aged parmesan

• Italian Style Meatballs — Simmered in San Marzano marinara and topped with shaved Pecorino Romano

• Angel Hair Pasta Aglio Olio — Delicate angel hair pasta tossed with garlic-infused olive oil and fresh parsley

• Four-Cheese Penne Alfredo — Penne pasta enveloped in a rich, creamy blend of Italian cheeses

• House Salad with Garlic Croutons — Crisp garden greens, shaved vegetables, and house-made garlic croutons, served with your choice of vinaigrette or creamy Tuscan dressing

Eligibility & Judging

The Copper Anvil Awards are open to all public relations and related industry professionals in Arizona. To be eligible for an award, at least part of the project must have occurred in the previous year and been completed by May 31, 2025. Entries are not judged against others in the same category. Instead, all entries are evaluated on a 20-point scale, with 5 points in each of the following categories: Research, Planning, Execution and Results.

Each entry is reviewed by two judges, and their scores are combined for a total of 20 possible points per entry.

• Entries receiving 17.5 or more points are eligible for a Copper Anvil Award.

• Entries receiving 15–17.49 points are eligible for an Award of Merit.

All judging is conducted by another PRSA chapter in the U.S.

A Look Back at 2024

Last year’s Copper Anvils honored some of Arizona’s most talented communicators and creative campaigns.

A highlight of the evening was the presentation of the Percy Award, which honors a professional who exemplifies excellence in public relations and community service. Erica Fetherston received the 2024 Percy Award for her decade-long contributions to the Phoenix PR community, leadership within PRSA Phoenix, and dedication to mentoring the next generation of professionals.

The Up and Comer Award went to Jessica Parsons from Gordon C. James Public Relations, who secured more than 375 media opportunities in just nine months for her clients.

Gordon C. James Public Relations also took home Agency of the Year, while the City of Glendale was recognized as Communications Team of the Year for their work on major events like Super Bowl LVII and Swift City.

Amy Wolff earned Freelancer of the Year, and Anthony Scarmack and Riva Surana were awarded 2024 PRSA Phoenix Student Scholarships for their leadership and commitment to the field.
