WHAT TIPS DO YOU HAVE WRITING MY ENTRY?

  • Get familiar with the RPIE process. RPIE stands for Research, Planning, Implementation and Evaluation and is the foundation of a strong PR plan. It won’t be the last time you’ll hear this term, either. It is embedded in PRSA standards and processes. For example, if you seek your Accreditation in Public Relations (APR) you will once again be tested on the RPIE process.
  • Make sure your results link back to your objectives. These two parts of your plan need to be completely in sync for it to be successful, and a good plan makes it very clear for judges to understand how you measured against your objectives.
  • If you couldn’t measure or do research, state why. We get it, not everybody has enough budget or resources to do everything they wanted to do. But you still need to show the judges you were thinking about it. Briefly describe what you would have done had circumstances allowed. For research, talk about what information you did have and how you leveraged it to shape your plan.
  • Don’t leave out a discussion about your budget and resources. Don’t worry, this information won’t be shared publicly. Including it helps the judges understand the scope of your project and the tactics within. If you don’t include it, you may not receive all of the points you could have in your entry.
  • Leverage your supporting materials to further demonstrate the narrative. Your two-page submission is the most detailed aspect of your entry, but the supporting materials add color. Make sure the two parts of your submission complement each other, and your supporting materials further demonstrate what you outlined in your plan.
