AI images are always created using an algorithm to generate a single image and that result may look polished but will often lack the true reflection of you. Most times that image can’t be duplicated and lacks your true to life appearance. If you’ve ever seen an AI failed image, and your hand ends up with six fingers on it then you know what I am talking about. AI images can easily be picked out of a line up, without a trained eye, and when someone is looking to hire you or your company for a job or position, the most important quality they look for is authenticity. It is your true self they are trying to see, and a fake image should never be your first impression. People connect with authenticity so these computer generated images can leave people feeling impersonal and deceptive which will absolutely impact how they perceive you.

Your head shot should align with your personal brand or business identity. Only a professional photographer can create this vision for you, right down to the location, styling and mood. With the right photographer and planning, you will never be left with a session that feels generic, it will be perfect for you and your vision of what truly matches your personality and brand. I’m talking about what an app on your phone just can’t produce. Many professionals use their likeness and image for all kinds of branding in print and publications, nothing you can generate on your phone will ever be high-quality enough for a professional print. Most images, when taken to a larger size then your social media, will be grainy, distorted and pixelated. There is now also a new concern with a copyright for these generated images. Many of these AI platforms have very unclear policies, meaning the image might not be owned by you creating potential issues in a publication. Most publications will always require a print release or photographer credit during print, it would ultimately be a road block for commercial usage.

Lastly, I will leave you with what just might be the magic sauce in all professional photography. I know, that as soon as I am hired by someone I learn as much about them as I can prior to even showing up on location.
