Why you should join the 2024 PRSA Phoenix Mentorship Program

Navigating the public relations field alone can be hard, whether you’re a seasoned PR pro, a student, a new pro, mid-career level and everything in between. Our field is constantly evolving and the only way to get ahead is to go together. 

That’s why PRSA Phoenix is relaunching its Mentorship Program. For mentors and mentees, this program is great for PRSA Phoenix members looking to grow professionally and strengthen their career networks. Here’s why you should sign up for this year’s program:

• Goal setting - A mentor can help a mentee set personal and professional goals, helping them hone in on what interests them and define what’s realistic, achievable and relevant to our field.
• Leadership - Being a mentor helps build and hone leadership skills. Mentees can also look to their mentor as a role model and learn ways they can grow their leadership skills from their mentor’s experiences.
• Communication - The foundation of a mentorship relationship is talking about and learning from one another’s experiences. These dialogues strengthen both the mentee’s and mentor’s interpersonal communication skills which can make them better communicators in their own careers.
• Learning - Mentors and mentees both learn something from each other. Both sides gain a fresh perspective on personal and professional challenges, helping them navigate new situations or take a different approach to old problems.
• Networking - Mentoring naturally widens your professional network. This offers opportunities to make connections that could lead to career advancement, a wider net of resources and guidance.
• Support - In today’s ever-evolving PR field, navigating your career can be confusing. A mentor can help you gain confidence and feel assured in your skills and ability to grow.
  
  

This year’s program will include several in-person and virtual events that provide mentors and mentees new insights on navigating their careers, learning about yourself and building up a network to help advance your career. Throughout the program, mentorship pairs are encouraged to meet 1:1.

PRSA Phoenix members and PRSSA ASU and NAU members can sign up now through March 4, 2024 to be matched with a mentor or mentee.
