12News Anchor Allison Rodriguez to Host the 2025 Copper Anvils

This year’s Copper Anvil Awards will be hosted by Allison Rodriguez, multi-skilled journalist and anchor at 12News.
Allison is a familiar face to Arizonans who start their mornings with her on Today in AZ, where she brings energy, clarity and connection to the day’s headlines.
She started her career as an anchor and reporter in Yuma, AZ in 2011, where she covered stories across international and state lines. It’s also where she met her husband, Kevin.
In 2013, she joined a local TV news station to anchor the weekend morning newscasts. She eventually became a weekday anchor and reporter.
In 2019, after getting married, Allison took a short break from the Valley of the sun and moved to the Bay Area. During her time reporting and anchoring there, she covered some of the biggest stories of that time, including the PG&E power shut offs and devastating wildfires. But Arizona called her back.
Allison returned to Arizona just before the pandemic in early 2020 to continue covering communities up and down our state, from the Navajo Nation to the Mexico border.
She joined 12News in 2023, drawn by its legacy and deep commitment to community journalism—a mission that aligns with her love for helping people start their day informed and empowered. Mornings have been in Allison’s blood for much of her career.
Allison is from Chicago and studied journalism at Columbia College Chicago before moving west to pursue her career. She and her husband now consider the Valley home. This year has been especially meaningful for Allison. In spring of 2025, she and her husband Kevin welcomed their first child, Mateo.
When she’s not on-air from 4:26–7 a.m. and streaming on the 12News+ app from 7–9 a.m., she’s happily soaking in every moment of new motherhood.
