National Publicist Day is today, Oct. 30, 2023, and we will always jump on the opportunity to celebrate and recognize the outstanding work being done every day by Valley PR pros. Earlier this month, we put out a call for members to nominate talented peers. Here is a snapshot of the great work being done day in and day out by folks who truly exemplify the best of PRSA.
Katie Brashear, Public Relations Account Director, Aker Ink
"Katie Brashear is an exceptional publicist and her track record speaks volumes about her prowess in the field… With over two decades of experience under her belt, she is a versatile professional who excels in all aspects of media outreach.”
“In addition to her impressive accomplishments, Katie is also a dedicated mentor, actively nurturing the growth of junior members on her team. She hosts enlightening workshops, offers weekly tips, meticulously edits pitches and imparts invaluable insights, ensuring that the next generation of PR professionals under her guidance evolve their skills and thrive in the dynamic world of public relations.”
Alison Bailin, Director of Client Service, HMA PR
“Alison`s creativity and media connections are unmatched. Through customized pitches and a commitment to making the process easy for the journalist and the source, there isn`t a story idea that she can`t find a home for!”
“Honesty. Integrity. Transparency. Three things that guide Alison`s PR expertise.”
“An active member of the local PR community, you will often find Alison providing resources and connections to others through her participation in Phoenix PR Pros and other online PR communities.”
Amy Wolff, Independent Practitioner
“Amy is an incredibly skilled writer along with knowing the ins and outs of media relations and pitching in the Phoenix community. She always goes above and beyond to nurture relationships between journalists and clients. I am proud to work with her and be able to brainstorm and collaborate when I can because of her extensive history and knowledge in the Phoenix PR world.”
“She continuously helps to educate and keep clients aware of the best practices in our industry and will not tolerate dishonesty or misinformation.”
Stephanie Jarnagan, Think Communications
“Working with Stephanie is hardly what I`d call ‘work.’ First, she always pitches terrific stories that are a pleasure to cover. Also, she is organized, efficient, thorough and dependable, which makes things easy for me. She lines up excellent sources, she stays on top of timelines and meetings, she sends plenty of photos and she`s responsive with follow-ups.”
“As an advocate for the Southwest Autism Research & Resource Center, Stephanie works to ensure people with autism have a voice. She edits Outreach, its award-winning quarterly magazine, and is also on its marketing committee.”
Brian O`Malley, Senior Director of Public Relations, Highnoon
“Brian is an amazing publicist from top-to-bottom. As someone with over 20+ years in the local Arizona PR industry, Brian is extremely knowledgeable in everything you could want out of an outstanding publicist.”
“Doing good for the community is something that Brian takes pride in. He has guided many of us on our team and continues to help us grow into our own roles within the industry… I am extremely grateful to Brian for being such a good role model for us at Highnoon.”
Shelly Talsma Everson, Independent Practitioner
“Shelly is a great storyteller and writer. She writes quickly and understands how to pitch stories. More importantly she is able to create trusted relationships with reporters and those that cover the news. She is brilliant at crafting angles and pitching feature stories. She is eternally optimistic and pleasant. She puts her heart into her work.”
“She consistently keeps up on PR trends and is always refining her pitch packages. She never shies away from learning and is a lifelong student of the art and craft of being a publicist.”
Lisa Sass, Senior Account Executive, Serendipit Consulting
“Lisa is the most driven and motivated publicist I`ve ever met. With the needs of her clients always in mind, she is a compelling storyteller that is every reporter and journalist`s best friend. She provides value to everyone she works with and is a great mentor to so many.”
“Lisa knows how to prove the worth of PR in any company`s budget. She`s worked in freelance, in-house and agency settings where she actively shows her worth with impressive national media wins, among others.”
Christina Caldwell, Public Relations Account Supervisor, The James Agency
“Christina’s eight years in the Public Relations industry, as well as her previous career in journalism as a reporter and editor, has allowed her to develop deep expertise in the field, specifically in the media relations space.”
“Christina has been a driving force in promoting diversity, equity and inclusion within our PR team and the field in general. She has not only advocated for clients that prioritize DEI efforts but has also fostered this type of inclusive environment within our organization where all voices are heard and valued.”
Emily Roberts, Public Relations Account Director, Bospar
“Emily has helped our budding 501c3 with advice, guidance and support for our community outreach campaigns and guided our hands into successfully navigating interviews and getting into print media.”
